Can't go outside and play in the garden, so how about something for the birds??
I got a bunch of cookie cutters on close-out. Any cookie cutters will do. I left my "Bird-Seed-Cookies" in the cookie cutter to hang outside, but you can easily push the cookie out of the
cutter after it has completely dried.
This recipe makes about 14 medium sized Bird-Seed-Cookies.
IN A BOWL
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup water
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
3 Tab corn syrup
3 1/2 cup birdseed
In a large bowl, mix well.
Tightly pack bird seed mixture into cookie cutter.
With a straw or chopstick, make a hole in top of cookie.
If you plan to remove the cookie cutter: Spray inside of cookie cutter with PAM spray before
pressing birdseed mixture into the cutter.
Let dry overnight .
Hang Bird-Seed Cookie with jute or string.
I leave the Bird-Seed-Cookie in the cookie cutter, to be used again when the seed is gone.
It snows and (this year) rains a lot here and the cookie is degradable. The cookie cutter keeps it
together until almost the end. Plus the dried mixture crumbles a little and little seeds are all over in the kitchen. Leaving the dried mixture in the cutter really cuts down on the crumbling.
Have fun. Enjoy the birds.
